Learn to Lift FAQ

1. Do I need any prior experience with lifting weights?
Not at all! Learn to Lift is designed for beginners or those returning to the gym after time away. We start with bodyweight and light weights, then build up gradually so you feel comfortable, confident, and strong.

2. What if I’ve never even touched a barbell before—will I be too behind?
Nope! This program is literally made for you. We teach you everything from the ground up, step by step. Most people in the group are starting from the same place, so you’ll never feel out of place.

3. How big are the classes? Will I actually get personal attention?
Classes are capped at 6 people max. That means you get hands-on coaching, personalized feedback, and modifications when needed. It’s like semi-private training in a fun, supportive group.

4. What happens if I miss a session—can I make it up?
Learn to Lift is a 4-week commitment. If you miss a class, there is no makeup for the class. However, when you register for Learn to Lift you receive a free Personal Training session. You can use that session to catch up on what you missed.

5. Is this program beginner-friendly or can more experienced lifters benefit too?
Both! Beginners get a safe, structured introduction to strength training, while those with some experience refine their technique, add progressions, and learn more about training.

Safety & Coaching

6. I’m worried about getting injured. How do you make sure I’m lifting safely?
Safety is our top priority. We coach with precision, focusing on form, mobility, and sustainable progression. You’ll never be pushed to do something your body isn’t ready for.

7. Who teaches the program—what are their qualifications?
All Learn to Lift coaches are certified kinesiologists and personal trainers. Translation: you’re learning from highly qualified professionals who know how to keep you safe and progressing.

8. Will the exercises be modified if I have past injuries or mobility issues?
Absolutely. We meet you where you’re at, adjusting exercises so they feel safe and effective. Our job is to help you move better—not to push through pain.

Results & Outcomes

9. What kind of results can I expect in 4 weeks?
You’ll feel stronger, move better, and build confidence in the gym. Many participants tell us they feel less achy in daily life, more energized, and proud of how capable they’ve become.

10. Will this help me feel more confident using the weight room at other gyms?
Yes! That’s one of our biggest goals. By the end of the program, you’ll know how to set up equipment, choose weights, and perform lifts safely—so you can walk into any gym and feel like you belong.

11. Is this program mostly for strength, or will it help with weight loss too?
Learn to Lift is all about building strength, confidence, and mobility. While it can support body composition changes, the bigger win is developing skills and habits that make training enjoyable and sustainable long-term.

Logistics

12. Where are classes held? Is there parking nearby?
Classes take place at The Sweatworking Collective (108-950 West Broadway, Vancouver). There are 2 parking stalls (37 & 38), street parking nearby as well as transit access.

13. What should I bring or wear to class?
Wear comfy workout clothes and running or training shoes. Bring a water bottle and a good attitude—we’ll provide the rest!

14. How much does it cost, and what’s included in the price?
The 4-week Learn to Lift program is $300 + GST. This includes 4 group sessions, and access to our exclusive 2-month Lifting Club package and personal training specials for ongoing progress.

Beyond the Program

15. What happens after Learn to Lift—how do I keep progressing?
Graduates get access to exclusive specials for personal training and our Lifting Club, a small-group strength program designed to build on what you’ve learned.

16. Do you offer other classes or personal training if I want more support?
Yes! We offer personal training, small-group strength, yoga, and seasonal programs. Many participants move into a mix of group and personal coaching after Learn to Lift.

17. Can I repeat Learn to Lift if I want more practice?
Definitely. Some people repeat to refine technique and build extra confidence before moving on. We’ll always support you at whatever stage you’re in.
